I would like to give credit to professional photographer Bill Zeldis for all the photos of Santa Barbara on my website.  They are all breathtaking and I hope you enjoy them also. Bill publishes yearly a unique calendar featuring Santa Barbara. It makes a great gift for both Santa Barbara residents and Santa Barbara lovers.

Kids Activities

I have raised two children here, so I know what it is that kids like to do in Santa Barbara. It used to be a struggle to find them all, but now there are some good resources for parents on the Web. I need not mention the after school programs that every school has. So we'll go on from there.

First, there are the obvious, and well worth choices, the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (think dinosaurs and whales), the Sea Center on Stearns Wharf, art classes at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and other wonderful resources. For a town of our size we are very lucky to have so much.

Another great resource for after school and summer programs is through the City of Santa Barbara's Parks and Recreation Department. I don't know what these programs are like elsewhere, but here in Santa Barbara they are terrific. Check them out.

Here are some other good things.

For those with toddlers and very young children there is the Kids Zone located at Alameda Park (Micheltorena and Santa Barbara Streets). There are great play facilities here. Lots of young children and moms.

For the skateboard rats, the City maintains a skaters bowl in Chase Palm Park on Cabrillo Boulevard called Skaters Point. It is very cool and very busy on the weekends and during the summer. But it's pretty safe and there are monitors on duty. Check out the movie clips on this link.

There are events going on all the time here. Festivals, parades, celebrations, fairs. Check out this basic guide. I have more on the Fiesta and Solstice parades back on the "Best of" page where you started.

There are lots more things for kids and families. Start with this stuff and you'll find even more.

Let Chris Casebeer's clients tell you why he's been a top Santa Barbara broker for over 30 years.
“As a single woman making a big change in her life, I felt very comfortable knowing that you and your knowledge of the real estate market would help make this transition possible. The many reassuring and informative phone calls back and forth between Chicago and Santa Barbara during the negotiating period were professional and very supportive, and kept me calm during a normally stressful time. Your easy and sensitive manner made me feel confident that everything would fall into place - and it did! An additional bonus is your knowledge of this town and the people in it. If I have a question about anything from hiking trails to professional services, you always have well informed suggestions.”
